What is YES?

  • YES (Youth Employment Services) is a non-profit organisation that was born out of the CEO’s initiative and driven by Presidency to create employment opportunities to unemployed Youth in South Africa.
  • The initiative has been implemented with the idea of creating quality workplace experience with experience being the driver and not necessarily education.
  • Why the hype? B-BBEE benefit companies can receive for participating in employing Youth for a 12-month period
  • What is the B-BBEE benefit? Companies can increase their B-BBEE recognition level: 
    • 1 level for meeting the youth employment target and 2.5% absorption 
    • 1 level +3 points for 1.5 x youth employment target and 5% absorption
    • 2 levels for doubling the youth employment target and 5% absorption

Youth Unemployment

Much of the debate in South Africa today focuses on ways to facilitate job creation, to shrink income differentials and to redress inequalities in accessing wealth.
We have seen our youth being largely affected by the economic slowdown and low levels of employment in the labour market. South Africa is no exception to the global unemployment phenomenon, The youth are the most vulnerable in an economy where skills are required, with their future relying heavily on job readiness and ability to enter the job market.

The YES initiative signifies huge progress towards facilitating South Africa’s youth to gain work experience through employment placement. Three major factors come into play for SA business owners – the employment of youth, B-BBEE requirements and training and development.

Our Implementation Approach

Calculations and Modelling your Y.E.S requirements.

  • Registration of the Client on the YES Initiative portal
  • Registering youth onto the YES initiative portal
  • On-boarding and providing work readiness training
  • Finding fitting hosts for your Y.E.S candidates, if they cannot be hosted internally
  • On going coaching, mentorship, training Interventions, and evaluation  
  • Monthly attendance reporting and Quarterly Reporting on YES Initiative Program progress.
